Hi Friends,
Welcome to the second installment of the newsletter. I hope your life and music have been productive since the last time we were in touch.
I've spent the last few months getting to know the NYC music community which has included everything from songwriting, recording amazing New York talent and opening my new studio on West 37th and Fifth Avenue just down the street from the Empire State Building (big building, pointy top...maybe you've heard of it?). In addition, we've completely renovated the Nashville studio. There will be an open house at the new and improved Cliff's Walk-In
Closet in January so everyone in the neighborhood has a chance to come by, see the studio's new look and celebrate with us.
One of my greatest pleasures as a producer is the fantastic array of session musicians that I'm able to involve in my client's projects. With that in mind, this newsletter's "Artist Spotlight" will feature Glen Caruba. Although, Glen's drumming and percussion speaks for itself, I'd like everyone to know a little more about him and his work.
Finally, with the holidays coming, it's a perfect time to step back, look at the big picture, remember what we're thankful for and think about the road ahead. If that road involves bringing your music to the next level, I'd love to help you get there.
Stay in touch and have a happy and healthy holiday season.
-Cliff
p.s. Don't forget that every hour of studio time you book in either New York or Nashville between now and the end of the year gets you an entry in the Shure KSM9 drawing. The winner will be notified by email in January.

| WHAT TO DO BEFORE YOU GO
INTO THE STUDIO TO MAKE YOUR INDEPENDENT CD
In the last newsletter, I covered how to prepare yourself to make the most of your songwriting demo experience. However, when it comes to recording a CD where you're the artist, you've got a lot of big decisions to make that will ultimately influence the way your project sounds. In other words, the more you do to prepare yourself before the record light comes on, the more enjoyable the process and the product will be.
Pre Production:
Pre production is everything that you should be taking care of prior to the first time you actually record something in the studio. This includes

| Glen Caruba...what's not to love? |

GLEN CARUBA
The list of artists Glen Caruba has either performed with or recorded for reads like a "who's who" of music greats from Jimmy Buffett to Kenny Rogers to Lionel Richie. Growing up in the Miami's musical melting pot, Glen moved to Nashville in the early 90's and immediately established himself as a "go to" percussionist for both live and studio work.
